Abstract

The actual number of scientific studies into homicide and manslaughter is limited, as detailed or structurally gathered information on this subject was not available. This gap was filled when WODC joined forces with the National Investigation Information department (dNRI) of the National Police Services Agency (KLPD) to create a database “Murder and Manslaughter, initially completed with detailed information about all murders committed in 1998. This memorandum describes the structure and type of information kept in this database and reports on the findings for the year 1998.

De hoeveelheid wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar moord en doodslag is beperkt, ondermeer omdat uitgebreide, structureel verzamelde informatie over dit onderwerp niet voorhanden was. Om in deze lacune te voorzien heeft het WODC samen met de dienst Nationale Recherche Informatie (dNRI) van het KLPD een databestand Moord en Doodslag gecreëerd en in eerste instantie gevuld met gedetailleerde informatie over alle moorden uit 1998.
