Racistisch geweld in Nederland

Abstract

The theme of 'racist violence in the Netherlands' was examined on the basis of three questions. The first question regards the nature and scope of racist incidents or racist violence in the Netherlands. The second concerns the acquisition of more background information on incidents involving actual suspects, and how cases are settled by the police and the judicial authorities. The third question focuses on the offenders themselves: their backgrounds and motivations for committing racist offences, and their involvement in radical right-wing parties, movements and groups. The incidents are divided into various categories: painting slogans, destruction, arson, threat, abuse etc.

Het thema 'racistisch geweld in Nederland' is aan de hand van drie vragen nader onderzocht. De eerste vraag betreft de aard en de omvang van racistische incidenten c.q. racistisch geweld in Nederland. In de tweede plaats gaat het om het verkrijgen van meer achtergrondinformatie met betrekking tot incidenten waarbij concrete verdachten zijn aan te wijzen. Hoe worden de zaken door politie en justitie afgedaan? In de derde plaats wordt de aandacht nadrukkelijk gericht op de daders zelf. Wat zijn de achtergronden van deze mensen? Wat beweegt hen tot het plegen van racistische delicten? Wat is hun betrokkenheid bij extreem rechtse partijen, bewegingen of groepen? De incidenten worden onderscheiden in: bekladding, vernieling, brandstichting, bedreiging, mishandeling e.d.
