De juridische uitdagingen van een synthetische samenleving
Abstract
A deepfake is content (video, audio or otherwise) that is wholly or partially fabricated or existing content (video, audio or otherwise) that has been manipulated. Several technologies can be used for this purpose, but the most popular is based on what is known as Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN). GAN has pushed the technological boundaries and has improved the quality and resolution of the material produced, with low cost and time investment. The main question of this research project was whether the current legal regime is capable of adequately tackling the negative effects of deepfake technology and if not, what could be options for altering the legal regime.
