INHOUD: 1. Introduction 2. The present situation 3. Explanation for the present situation 4. Improving evaluative research SAMENVATTING: This paper consists of three sections. The first will be about the present state of evaluative research. The second section will go into the reasons why evaluative research in the field of primary prevention has dropped behind both in quantity and quality. The last section will suggest a number of ways which evaluative research can be improved.
